Below is are descriptions of 2020 Kentucky Derby ticket options.  Please also view the Churchill Downs seating map in the Photo Gallery.

1st Floor Grandstand – The least expensive and most basic option to experience the Kentucky Derby with a reserved ticket in sections 121 – 128, which is located from the end of the 4th turn to half-way down the front stretch.  All seating is outside, along rows of metal bleachers, at track level.  You cannot see the entire track and will only see the horses as they are near the starting gate and briefly as the come out of the 4th turn during the Kentucky Derby race.

2nd Floor Grandstand – Is directly behind and slightly above the 1st Floor Grandstand in sections 221 – 228, which is located from the end of the 4th turn to half-way down the front stretch Almost all seating is outside, along rows of metal bleachers, just above track level. You cannot see the entire track and will only see the horses as they are loading into the starting gate and as the come out of the 4th turn and briefly into the homestretch during the Kentucky Derby race.

1st Floor Clubhouse – Sits at track level in sections 111 – 117 from the middle of the 1st turn to before the finish line.  All seating is in “boxes” that each contain six folding chairs.  You can see the horses coming down the front stretch into and through the 1st turn, then again as they come down the front stretch to the finish line.  Seating in sections near the finish line are more expensive than those towards the 1st turn.

3rd Floor Grandstand – Sits above the 1st and 2nd Floor Grandstands in sections 322 – 325, which are located from the top of the front stretch to half-way to the finish line.  All seating is in “boxes” that each contain six folding metal chairs.  Rows A to C are outside, rows D to L are under the cover of a roof.  You can see the horses at the start, down the front stretch into the first turn and then again coming into the 4th turn and back down the front stretch to the finish line.  The crowds are less, betting windows are easier to access, and food options are upgraded from the 1st and 2nd floor. In our estimation, this seating area is the best combination of viewing location and price to experience the Kentucky Derby.

3rd Floor Clubhouse – Sits above the 1st Floor Clubhouse in sections 312 – 321, which are located from before the finish line to the beginning of the 1st turn.  All seating is in “boxes” that each contain six folding chairs.  Rows A to C are outside, rows D to L are under the cover of a roof.  You can see the horses from the start, down the front stretch into the 1st and 2nd turns, then again coming out of the 4th turn and all the way down the front stretch to the finish line.  Seating in sections near the finish line are more expensive than those towards the 1st turn.  Betting windows and food and drink options are even further upgraded than the 3rd Floor Grandstand.

Millionaire’s Row – The 4th and 6th floors, situated high above the track, and what you see on TV with all the people standing outside. There is a food buffet, open bar, private entrance to Churchill Downs, and private betting windows included with this option.  Seating is inside at round tables of 8.  To view the races, you walk through glass doors to a three- tier outdoor balcony.  You can see the horses the entire race, from start to finish. When you see the Kentucky Derby on TV, Millionaire’s Row is where the cameras show long line of people standing outside at the top of Churchill Downs at the finish line

Turf Club – This is where the Who’s Who spends their day at the Kentucky Derby. You will see America’s top celebrities, actors, musicians, athletes and politicians in the Turf Club.  Seating is the climate – controlled inside near the finish line at square and rectangular tables of 4, 6 and 8.  There is a food buffet, open bar, private entrance to Churchill Downs, and private betting windows included with this option.

Additional Details

There is no doubt that sporting events like the Super Bowl and World Series can boast rich and colorful histories, but neither can match the tradition and prestige of the Kentucky Derby, which will be renewed for the 146th time at Churchill Downs in Louisville on May 2, 2020. As one of the oldest continuously-held sporting events in the world, the “Run for the Roses” was first contested back in 1875. Aristides was the winner that day in front of a crowd of approximately 10,000 Kentucky Derby ticket holders. The 2015 Kentucky Derby set a record for the event with a crowd of 170,513. To witness “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports” live and in person, Esoteric Sports has the ideal Kentucky Derby travel package for you.

Numerous champions have won the Kentucky Derby, but only one stands out above all others – Secretariat. “Big Red” dominated the 1973 Kentucky Derby, and he still owns the fastest time ever in the event. Secretariat went on to sweep the Triple Crown that year, and went down in history as perhaps the greatest racehorse ever. The 1970s also featured Seattle Slew and the great rivalry between Alydar and Affirmed. In the last decade, we’ve been treated to remarkable rags-to-riches stories like Funny Cide and Smarty Jones, and then in 2006 Barbaro caught the attention of the nation with his memorable Kentucky Derby win and even more memorable fight for life after being injured in the Preakness Stakes. Esoteric Sports’ unique Kentucky Derby travel package gives you the chance to see the next champion.

While the race might be over in about 120 seconds, a Kentucky Derby tour offers a full array of activities that takes over the entire city of Louisville. And there is no better way to experience the pageantry and parties than with one of the 2020 Kentucky Derby travel packages from Esoteric Sports. It’s never easy to get your hands on premium Kentucky Derby tickets or Louisville hotel accommodations during the first week in May, but with Esoteric Sports you can get both. While we can’t guarantee you’ll pick a winner at the betting windows, we can guarantee a Kentucky Derby travel experience that you won’t soon forget.
